Bleeding from Leg Veins

Dark lower legs should be treated with conservative treatment that includes compression stockings, elevation, increased activity program and weight control.

To improve the quality of life, a dark lower leg should be followed by a specialist in the field on a regular basis and the patient should be checked and the leg evaluated every 6-12 months until the problem is stabilized. The Iowa Vein Center has a Chronic Venous Insufficiency Clinic that follows exclusively patients that are affected with dark legs, ulcerations and their complications.
