Ulcerations are healed using several modalities of treatment that include compression stockings, wound healing management, medications and close patient follow up. Ulcerations could take several weeks and sometimes months to heal if not properly treated and followed.
The underlying reason of an ulceration should be treated and the patient should be closely monitored until the problem is stabilized and controlled. The Iowa Vein Center has a Chronic Venous Insufficiency Clinic that follows exclusively patients that are affected with dark legs, ulcerations and their complications.
