Tips for Travelers

VC

Traveling short or long distances can result in leg pain. Follow these tips to avoid any short- or long-term discomfort associated with traveling.

  • No high heels or new shoes
  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Request aisle or bulk head seat & ambulate on the plane
  • Wear knee high compression hose
  • Stretch frequently legs & upper body
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Take baby aspirin daily starting 3 days before trip until 2 days after trip
  • If unable to stand, move feet and ankles while seated
  • Elevate your legs after travel
  • Notice sudden swelling or pain consult your doctor
  • After recent surgery, consult your doctor before travel
