Born in Mendoza, Argentina, Dr. J. A. Olivencia opened the Iowa Vein Center in 1988. After graduating from Cuyo National University School of Medicine in Argentina, Dr. Olivencia completed his internship at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA, and his general surgery residency at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He is Board Certified in Phlebology, a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), Fellow of the American College of Angiology (FACA), a Fellow of the American College of Phlebology (FACPH), and a Diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology (Vein Diseases).
Regarded as an expert in the field of vein therapy, Dr. Olivencia has been a
keynote speaker for numerous conferences worldwide. In addition, his articles have been published in leading medical journals, and he collaborated on the book, Venous Disease for Clinicians, The Fundamentals of Phlebology.
