The clinical and administrative staff of the Iowa Vein Center traded their surgical instruments for construction tools on Thursday, June 21, at the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity home under construction at 1818 11th Street in Des Moines.
Clinic staff will be decked out in surgical scrubs for the build to visually demonstrate the connection between physical health and emotional well-being.
"Through our work with patients seeking both medical and cosmetic procedures, we are acutely aware of how improving oneself can increase personal self-esteem and confidence," said Iowa Vein Center Medical Director J.A. Olivencia, M.D. "By helping this family to have a home of their own of which they can be proud, we hope there will be a positive effect on how they feel about themselves and their own personal ability to continue to move in a positive direction in life."
